The XLR8 card comes with a well illustrated 29 page manual with photos of the installation steps required to install the card in 73/75/7600, 85/8600, 95/9600, and a text only overview of UMax/PowerComputing installations. The manual also has sections on tools required, explanations of CPU and cache speeds, software installation and a step-by-step guide to troubleshooting. XLR8's toll-free tech support number is also listed in case you have questions or need assistance. The standard manual included settings for 400MHz speeds (and above) but did not specifically mention the 400MHz model. The box contained a preliminary copy of a completely new and improved manual as well that listed the 333-400MHz models and have even more detail on installations. This preliminary manual will is in printing now I'm told and will be the standard supplied manual very soon. A permanent (vs. the disposable one time use versions) adjustable anti-static wrist strap is also provided. The normal installation routine would be to power off the Mac, attach the wrist strap and connect it to the monitor out jack on the back of the Macintosh, remove the case cover, remove the existing CPU card, install the XLR8 card (making sure it's fully seated), press the CUDA (cpu reset) button on the motherboard (hold for 30 seconds) and then power up the Mac and install the software. Total installation time was under 5 minutes and totally plug and play. The card has a removable black metal bracket that allows it to be used in low profile systems like the PowerComputing machines (the bracket is left on for use in Apple Macs). Below is a picture of the card installed in the Genesis.
Speed Settings: As mentioned earlier - the card has adjustments for 40 to 60MHz bus speeds and up to 8X bus to CPU ratios. I've not yet tested at higher speeds but may do so in my PowerCenter Pro soon.

Documentation was complete and sufficient for installation and troubleshooting. Had the preliminary manual been finalized I would have rated documentation higher, but it was more than sufficient for installation and configuration. I rated documentation an 8. | |
