Reader Comments/Tests on IBM 60GXP IDE Hard Drive:
Posted: 6/11/2001
For those curious about how the new IBM 60GXP series compares to the popular 75GXP series (now being phased out I hear), a recent Drive Compatibility Database entry noted using one in a B&W G3 with Acard ATA/66 controller (the onboard B&W G3 controller is ATA/33). The reader sent a series of ATTO benchmark results comparing the 60GXP to the 75GXP as well as a Seagate Barracuda II drive.

" Mike,

CONFIGURATION:
G3 B&W Post_Rev.3 ($77D.45F6)/400MHz/Acard ATA66/Master drive=60GXP, Slave drive=75GXP, For an emergency=Seagate Barracuda II - 30GB (Not connected).

IBM 60GXP is quieter than 75GXP and Seagate Baracuda II.
The installation was very smooth and it is just running great. I am sending you the benchmark results by ATTO and MacBench. Mac OS 9.1 is English International.
With best regards, vidisKawashima "
