Virtual PC 4.0 vs 3.0 vs PII 350Mhz Photoshop Test Results:
Last Updated: 12/7/2000, 9:29 AM
Yesterday's news had Norton SI and Wintune test results comparing VPC v4 to v3, which noted impressive gains (SI scores tripled on a PB G3/500, G4 system also showed large gains in CPU and Memory performance). To see how VPC performed in applications, Jeffrey sent results of tests in Photoshop 5.5 in Virtual PC v4 vs v3 and included comparisons to a 350MHz Pentium II PC. Granted nobody would use VPC for Photoshop, but the results are interesting and real world rather than just benchmarks. The overall gain from VPC 4 over version 3 was nearly double.

Note: VPC 3.03 and V4.0 Used the same System, a B&W G3 with 550MHz G4 CPU upgrade (overclocked G4/500) with Rage128 graphics card. 128MB of RAM was allocated to VPC. Both VPC 4 and 3 used Windows 98 SE (second edition).

The Gain Column means how much faster VPC 4 was than VPC 3.

Make a Difference: Be the Difference
Randy Mita, Brad Lau and I came up with a new slogan and theme for Mac advocacy - "Make a Difference: Be the Difference". We're asking that all Mac owners take advantage of every opportunity to let others know the Mac advantage. It's a grass-roots approach that will surely help.
