Anyone Interested in OEM Radeon AGP cards w/ADC port for $129.95?
(Note: These are the Fanless Radeon cards - the Cube Radeon cards had a Fan which is highly recommended for a Radeon card used in a Cube. These cards are not warranted for use in Cubes. See the Video articles page, Graphics card section or the Systems page, Cube section for a past article on Fanless Radeon Cube card reports. I don't suggest Cube owners run a fanless Radeon card.)
Jamie Dresser of OWC asked if I'd post a note that they're trying to gauge interest in original Radeon AGP cards priced at $129.95. (These would be the fanless Radeon AGP cards that were part of previous G4 towers from Apple.) If you're interested in a OEM Radeon AGP card (ADC and VGA connectors), here's the email address to write.

Rumors of Dual CPU/Dual Display iMac - the 'BiMac'
There's rumors of a new iMac model that will have two displays and two bases connected side-by-side, code named "BiMac".
On a related note, I expect a dust cover for the dual bases to be available from Victoria's Secret for the "well endowed" new iMac. ;-)

Powerlogix Bluechip G4 LS CPU Upgrade OS 9 Sleep Fix Available Now
Friday's news had a note that Powerlogix had updated their beta software page noting a fix for the Bluechip G4 LS (Lombard) CPU upgrades to address the crashing when attempting to sleep in OS 9. As of this morning there is a download link there now for the update. See for details.
Note they say OS 9.2.1 is required and it does not currently work with OS 9.2.2. (OS X does not require this patch.) The page also notes they're working on a fix for the Wallstreet version of the Bluechip G4 and that the LS version extension simply disables sleep if used with the Wallstreet.
If any readers try this with their LS cards after they include a download link, - email me with the results and post a Rate Your CPU Upgrade database report.

Article on transparent blue iBook - 'TronBook'
A reader posted a link to an article on how an iBook owner removed the paint on his iBook and used transparent blue for a "TronBook" modification. (Thanks to Tim Maddux for the link.)
In June 2001 a reader sent an article for posting there on the Systems page, iBook section titled 2001 iBook Conversion - Painting the Cover which used sandpaper to remove the paint. However after Jamie Dresser used isopropyl alcohol (91%) to remove the inside paint on an Airport base, that may be a better way to remove the original paint. (Not that I'm suggesting the average user try this sort of mod since it requires a lot of disassembly to the iBook and of course probably voids the warranty.)

You can find full owner reports (latest shown first) by searching the database by drive/brand/interface/mac models (the latest reports are shown first in searches).
For guides to installing CD/CDRW/DVD drives or Hard drives in many mac models, see the IDE Articles page. The Firewire articles page also has guides on case kits, installing drives, etc.
If you've added a IDE, SCSI, Firewire or USB hard drive, CDRW, tape drive, etc. make sure you add a report to the database. [If you post an updated entry - make sure you use the same name, etc. as you did before so I can find your past entry. Thanks.]

(Entries today will be added the following newsday. Incomplete entries are deleted. Do not post questions in the database, it's for drive reports not questions on what drive to buy - for that try searching the database for reports from owners of your mac model on the drive type/brand/interface, etc. you're interested in.)
