Apple revises Lion Java Update (now 2012-002)
Although it's still dated Apr 3rd and is the same D/L page as the "2012-001" release, Apple has changed the name of the Lion Java Update to Java for OS X Lion 2012-002. I'm not sure if this is related to bugfixes or due to problems some reported with the original Lion (2012-001) download (dmg) updater. (I don't own lion personally.)
Regardless, IMO if you're running Lion and never installed Java previously, I still wouldn't despite this round of security fixes. (SU won't show the update if Java was never installed - Apple doesn't include Java in default Lion install.)
PCmag has an article about the 2nd Lion Java Update and I'm sure others will follow.
(I really think it's time for Apple to say something publicly about this.)
Update/FYI: Apple has now revised the About Java for OS X Lion 2012-002 doc to note it "fixes an issue that could affect users of the Xcode or Application Loader tools".
