I have always used Anarchie, I consider it the best ftp program out there, and this one is much better than the previous version. " Simply amazing. Booted off the Software Restore CD, and Apple's Drive Setup recognized the disk as being "initialize-able." Made 5 HFS+ partitions, the entire disk was finished in about 30 seconds.

Did FWB benchmarks on 1st and last partitions. 1st partition (I'm assuming outer ring?) recorded 49 MB/sec sustained read, and 57(!!) MB/sec sustained write. Last partition recorded only 27MB/sec sustained read, but maintained the 57MB/sec sustained write.

Either way, it still whooped on my old 9600 running two Quantum 18GB 7200 rpm drives in a RAID 0 configuration. Sad...

just an FYI that I haven't seen anywhere else ...

I installed a Toshiba SD-M1212 in my Biege G3 a while back and it has worked flawlessly - excpet for one thing. It cannot read Unix partitions. I first found this out with OSX PR4 and just recently with LinuxPPC 2000. In both cases I was unable to install the OS due to errors trying to read the Unix files on both discs. It may be a Unix driver issue since in both cases the errors occurred in the Unix/Linux environment - not the MacOS envrinment.

Using my Imation CD-R instead allowed me to complete both installs.
