| Marthon Resurrection Unreal Tournament Mod 1.2 Update |
| A reader posted a note that there's a 1.2 update to the UT Mod Marathon Resurrection. (Note: Download is listed as 120MB.) Here's a clip on the update:
"
The single player experience is meant to be a loosely based replica of the original Marathon Demo by Bungie. Some things that we included were not part of the original demo, and a few small things have been omitted, but otherwise this release stays true to the
original.
Changes from previous versions:
- Too many to enumerate them all. The highlights include the fusion pistol's alternate fire no longer being a single shot kill,
minor HUD improvements, and weapon recoil tweaks.
New in this version:
- New multi-player map: DMMRK-Thrud - The same three single player levels as in the original Marathon demo complete
with monsters and the original single player experience. Games can also be saved and loaded from the proper terminals in
the levels.
Release Comments:
- Please be aware that the HTML manual has not been updated to include the new single player game yet. It will be made
available as soon as it is ready. ..
Requirements
- Unreal Tournament v436

| Comments on OS X Security Update Breaking SendMail (w/Tip to Fix That) |
| Two readers reported that the OS X Security Update broke Sendmail. Here's one of the comments with a tip on fixing that permissions issue:
"
...the one thing I don't understand though, is why every single one of these security updates feel the need to turn on group writable privileges for "/". Every single time I install one of these updates, sendmail breaks. I have to:
to get it working every single time.... but I guess its a small price to pay
Leela
[another reader noted he had seen the same sendmail problem. One reader suggested using Apple's "Repair Privileges Utility" but Leela replied]
that goes the wrong way. Default Apple privileges is to turn on group writting on "/". If you want sendmail to work, "/" can not be group writeable (unless you mess with the sendmail config file to turn "don't blame sendmail" to "on"). Anyway, once I figured out that every single Apple update breaks sendmail the same way, it doesn't take long at all to fix, but it is annoying.
"
Another reader replied to the above with a note on a freeware util:
"
Best solution is to download
"Keep Sendmail Happy" (current version -
0.1.4), decompress, and install per instructions (i.e. copy folder
"KeepSendmailHappy" into "/Library/StartupItems")
From then on, everytime you login or reboot, your permissions will be
fixed automatically!
Best of all, "Keep Sendmail Happy" is FREE!

Another reader wrote about a different issue he saw after the update:
"gm mike,
this update changes ones prefs ...and if one is on a lan (like me)
and can not connect to the internet, one will have to go to:
system prefs -> network and add a domain name server.
curtis"
I use Airport to share a cable modem (DHCP) and didn't have any problems after the update.

The Firewire articles page also has guides on case kits, installing drives, etc. If you've added a IDE, SCSI, Firewire or USB hard drive, CDRW, tape drive, etc. make sure you add a report to the database. [If you post an updated entry - make sure you use the same name, etc. as you did before so I can find your past entry. Thanks.]
(Entries today will be added the following newsday. Incomplete entries are deleted. Do not post questions in the database, it's for drive reports not questions on what drive to buy - for that try searching the database for reports from owners of your mac model on the drive type/brand/interface, etc. you're interested in.)
