| Dungeon Siege 1.1.2 Update |
| Spotted it at this Macupdate page.
"
Version 1.1.2 adds the following:
- US codebase has been synchronized with the French and German builds to allow for International network play.
- Software now checks for 350 MHz (rather than 400 MHz) as the minimum CPU speed. Holding down 'p' on game startup will skip this check.

- Stabilization fix in the Loader subsystem.
- Fixed a problem where the game cursor wouldn't draw under Mac OS X version 10.3 "Panther".
- Added additional error reporting code on software quit.

| Reader Warning about MultiPlayer Limits w/Myth TFL 1.4 Update |
| A reader sent a note/warning about the earlier news item on Myth TFL 1.4 update:
"Hey, I'm from Project Magma and Clan Plaid. Wanted to warn you guys about the Fallen Lords update you have posted on your site. (see below)
In updating the application MythDev removed support for any third party servers and hard coded in thier own server (PlayMyth). Being as MariusNet was the only place to play TFL until two days ago this has not gone over well with the community. This goes against the open nature Bungie wanted when they released their server source. If you could please mention this on that page we'd be appreciative.
Mike S.

| Myth (original) 1.4 Update (Carbon) |
| (Note: See the later news item above regarding Multiplayer server limits with this update before applying it.)
Elroy posted a note there's a 1.4 (Carbon) update to the original Myth game noted at
http://www.mythdev.com/projects/myth_tfl/.
"
The update of Myth: The Fallen Lords is the final jewel in the Myth
triple crown for MythDevelopers. After successful updates of Myth II and Myth III, we were granted access to the Myth: The Fallen Lords source code to work our update magic on it as well. The result is a native version of Myth TFL for both Macintosh Carbon
and Windows PC. We've also taken the time to do some updating of the source code itself, getting it to compile with our new Myth Core Library which is now used to
compile all three Myth games. One feature addition is the ability to press the up-arrow key and view in-game back chat.
Install your copy of Myth: The Fallen Lords and then use this
updater to get in on all the fun, including ranked multiplayer now available on PlayMyth.net."
v1.4 Changes:
- Updated to run natively under Macintosh OS X. Also runs in
any version of Mac OS that can run CarbonLib 1.6.
- Added support for back-chat viewing in-game.
- Support for Myth Secure Packet Protocol.
- Updated metaserver networking to support common Myth II and Myth III packet structures.

| Reader Comments on Homeowner Policy Rider for Laptop Accident Coverage |
| Yesterday's news had an item on Notebook repairs where I mentioned that some credit cards extend the warranty for purchases made with them. A reader sent a note about another option to consider that covers accidents as well:
"
Mike, Quick piece of advice to those looking for ways to mitigate the cost of laptop repairs. My insurance company sold me a rider to my homeowners policy for my Powerbook. It covers replacement cost if there is any accidental damage (e.g., dropping it), or if it is lost or stolen. I bought the coverage when I used to travel on business a lot, since I was often stuffing it in overhead bins or walking around airports, etc. The coverage doesn't include mechanical breakdown, of course, but I guess you could buy Apple Care for that.
The best part is the coverage is cheap. Because it comes as a part of my overall homeowners policy, the additional premium was very reasonable (under $75 per year with no deductible). And I can keep the coverage for as long as I like, unlike extended warranties which expire. It makes me feel much better about traveling with my $3000 computer.
Steve
"
One reader wrote in reply to this:
"I would not recommend taking a rider to cover a laptop. One claim and the insurance company may either raise your rate, or cancel the policy. It is getting progressively more difficult to obtain reasonably priced insurance, and those companies DO share information regarding your claims.
Jeff"
Hopefully you won't have to file a claim but if you do, that $75 would be well worth it. I can understand if there's a series of claims for things like this, but if your insurance company cancels a policy for one claim, I think you have the wrong insurance company personally.

| Creative Labs Contest |
| (email from Brian Souder of Creative Labs)
"
Hey Mike, I just thought I would toss this your way for the group. Creative just released a new contest for the new MuVo NX and the iTrigue's. It's all
stuff that worked on the mac, so I figured I would make sure our people all had a crack at it. The whole thing is a little odd, and the video is just begging to be spoofed - but hey - they could win free stuff.
Thanks, Brian
"
Unfortunately the movies you have to download for the contest are not in Quicktime format (windows media and realplayer formats only) - so you'd need those players for the mac.

You can find full owner reports (latest shown first) by searching the database by drive/brand/interface/mac models (the latest reports are shown first in searches).
For guides to installing CD/CDRW/DVD drives or Hard drives in many mac models, see the IDE Articles page. The Firewire articles page also has guides on case kits, installing drives, etc. If you've added a IDE, SCSI, Firewire or USB hard drive, CDRW, tape drive, etc. make sure you add a report to the database. (If you post an updated entry - make sure you use the same name, etc. as you did before so I can find your past entry. Thanks.)
(Incomplete entries are deleted. Do not post questions in the database, it's for drive reports not questions on what drive to buy - for that try searching the database for reports from owners of your mac model on the drive type/brand/interface, etc. you're interested in.)
