Dyno/Drag Strip tests of G-Tech vs Dynolicious (iPhone app)
Dwight sent a link to a YouTube video titled iPhone Dynolicious Software Better than G-Tech? with some real-world (dyno/drag strip) testing of the Dynolicious app for iPhone/iPod Touch I'd mentioned a few times here. Their Dyno and Dragstrip results with a MiniCooper showed Dynolicious was more accurate than their sample G-Tech device ($150) - although YMMV (not everyone has gotten accurate results). (One of the keys IMHO is an accurate entry for weight (car+you+fuel), a good/secure mount and calibration. Then there's the estimate of drivetrain loss for HP calc. IIRC for manual transmissions 15% is a good estimate.)
(Speaking of calibration, some of us have had problems with v1.02 completing calibration. The developer said last Thursday that an updated version w/fix had been sent to Apple but it could take a week perhaps for them to release it.)
Update: As mentioned in Tuesday's news, the 1.1 update w/calibration fix (works here finally) is available.

Using MacBook Air USB/Ethernet adapter with G4 Tower (OS X 10.5.4)
(FYI from a recent reader mail)

" Apple sells a USB Ethernet Adapter which was made for the MacBook Air computer. Even though the package says "Compatible only with MacBook Air computers" it was plug and play on my G4. (Running OS X 10.5.4. Lightning had fried the onboard ethernet.) $29 at the Apple store...

More feedback on Mac Pro spare SATA ports w/external eSATA cases
I've added 2 more reports to the previous page on Using the Mac Pro's 2 extra onboard SATA Ports w/external drives. One is a follow-up from the Lacie Quadra owner that had previously reported problems (Lacie is issuing an RMA) and notes from a user of two Macally enclosures (eSATA/USB) which worked, although he said with a cable connected to the spare onboard SATA ports his 2008 Mac Pro Apple Hardware Test showed an "4HDD/11/40000004:SATA(2,0)" error in the "Extended" test. (Apparently doesn't expect a connection there - although he asked if others had seen this error also. Error not seen in standard test.)

Toast 9/Blu-Ray drive User reports page updated
I've updated the page of User reports on Toast 9 HD/BD Authoring Plug-in with comments from a Mac Pro owner using an SATA LG GGW-H20L with the spare onboard SATA ports. Although Finder and Disk Utility burns worked, as some others had seen, there were problems with BR using Toast 9.02 w/BR HD Plugin and Adobe Encore. (A workaround was to save a Toast disc image and burn it with Disk Utility.)
