| Dyno/Drag Strip tests of G-Tech vs Dynolicious (iPhone app) |
Dwight sent a link to a YouTube video titled
iPhone Dynolicious Software Better than G-Tech? with some real-world (dyno/drag strip) testing of the Dynolicious app for iPhone/iPod Touch I'd mentioned a few times here. Their Dyno and Dragstrip results with a MiniCooper showed Dynolicious was more accurate than their sample G-Tech device ($150) - although YMMV (not everyone has gotten accurate results). (One of the keys IMHO is an accurate entry for weight (car+you+fuel), a good/secure mount and calibration. Then there's the estimate of drivetrain loss for HP calc. IIRC for manual transmissions 15% is a good estimate.)
(Speaking of calibration, some of us have had problems with v1.02 completing calibration. The developer said last Thursday that an updated version w/fix had been sent to Apple but it could take a week perhaps for them to release it.)
Update: As mentioned in Tuesday's news, the 1.1 update w/calibration fix (works here finally) is available.
