| Follow-up on 2009 Mac Pro w/eSATA cards not booting to Bootcamp Volumes (fix coming?) |
Follow-up mail (from the 27th) on the subject (ref: this article last month of later bootrom 09 Mac Pros not being able to boot to bootcamp volumes if an eSATA card was installed.
"I just heard back from a contact at Apple and they are working on the problem. They just released a fix for MacBook Pros, which I didn't know they had an issue. (FYI: As reported on the Expresscard reports page here since late 2008, the Unibody MBPs don't seem to work with any eSATA expresscard in Windows. Resource errors reported. One reader tried 5 or 6 different cards (Mike tried two - SIL3132 and JMB360 based ones, neither worked in Windows.) Not sure if any later updates fixed that or if the 2010 MacBook Pros work.-Ed)
He said the Mac Pro problem is being worked on, but he doesn't know when it'll be fixed.
But the good news is that it WILL be fixed!
Thanks again for all your help. Couldn't have done it without you.
-Dave"

| PPC Macs iSub Patch for OS X 10.5.x |
| I'd forgotten about the older page here on this issue (iSub problems w/Intel-Based Macs and OS X tiger (and later), which had a reader's workaround (w/iMic) from 2007. Not much talk about the iSub for some time but an iMac G4 owner back in 2008 said OS X 10.5.3 fixed his iMac G4 (PPC) iSub problem. (See June 2nd, 2008 news page post Reports on iSub working again after 10.5.3 update (Not Intel-CPU Macs) which also has some notes on tests by Mike back then, but the Intel-based Mac iSub Problem remained.) Anyway, here's a recent mail on a fix for PPC Macs with OS X 10.5.x in case anyone needs it:
"Subject: iSub fix for Leopard/PPC
Hi Mike (or Ed?)
I just dug my 20" iMac G4 out of storage, set it up, hoped the iSub would work, no dice. (what OS version are you running?) Googling found a fix that involves downloading a package of drivers and a shell script to install them.
Apparently this works with everything but iChat. Hurrah!
Apple forum thread "iSub Now Working, Fix Made" (G5 tower owner running 10.5.8 per Sig. No link in that thread page link, but earlier thread page has it - same as below)
http://sourceforge.net/projects/isub-fix/
-Kira"
That download page notes PPC Macs, so I assume there's still no fix for Intel-based Macs
