| $1495 SGI 17 inch LCD/Prof. 3 card or MultiLink Adapter Special: |
[Note - another reader said the bundle includes the Graphics card OR the Multilink adapter, not both.] A reader sent a reminder on the limited time promotional offer on a bundle of the SGI 17" LCD (1600x1024 native res.) Monitor, Proformance III (w/DFP addon) graphics card or their previously $495 Multilink (VGA and DVI) adapter for $1495. These are new with a 3 year warranty and previously listed for about $2500 without the Multilink adapter. (There's also a PC bundle that includes the 3Dlabs Oxygen VX1-1600SW digital video card instead of the Mac compatible Proformance 3).

| Slow Quake3 v1.27 Beta? Try This Tip: |
A reader in the forums noted that a tip on trashing the Q3config.cfg file from Lucian Fong helped his Q3 1.27beta peformance. As Lucian noted, verify your settings such as audio, etc. after deleting the config file and relaunching Quake3 (which will rebuild the q3config.cfg file). Audio (sound) takes a lot of CPU time on the mac, so low audio settings are preferred. (I also disable music, or set the volume to 0 in all games.)

| Motorola Docs on 600MHz G4s (7410) |
| (From a reader's forum post)
"
Don't know if anybody else has seen this, but apparently Motorola has 'official' 600 MHz pre-production G4's... as seen in this PDF.
It also lists errata (chip bugs), the new power usage (8W typical, 16W maximum), and a bunch of other tech stuff that I will let you read on your own (Grin).
It should also be noted that while this PDF is dated internally as being created in October, it actually wasn't posted to Motorola's site until Dec. 5.
