(Updated - see below for another reader mail regarding wild price variances)
"
Sony/Ericsson T608 is now available to order 12/21/03 from Sprint.
Bluetooth lets mac notebook users access Sprints 3G high speed network for data. First Bluetooth solution from Sprint and long delayed. I ordered one today and was promised delivery in 2 days.

A reader replied to this post:
"
Mike! Thank you for the heads up! I just ordered the Sprint Sony/Ericson T608! I have an order number in hand! Sprint's web site doesn't list the phone, I called Sprint at 1-888-253-1315 and after a long hold, I was informed that the price was over $700!
After I picked my jaw off of the floor, I searched the web and found that you should call 1-866-PCS-AUTO. The price including my taxes and shipping was $221.
Thanks again!

| Reader's Unofficial Fix for PB G4 12in Fan issue w/10.3.2 |
| I don't own a Powerbook G4/12in model to test this but a reader sent a note he's posted a 'fix' for the fan always on in 10.3.2 for some PB G4 12in owners:
"
Hi Mike, I've created a little app called "Silent Night" that takes care of the PowerBook Fan issue related to PowerBook G4 12in Rev. A. The installer reverts the fan's settings to their original state before the 10.3.2 update. The installer is located here:
http://homepage.mac.com/idrivex/silentnight.dmg
Thanks.
Chris T.
(I asked Chris for more info)Yes, in the 'rev B' model, the fan already comes on at 125 degrees F. The 10.3.2 update brings the fan / temp. threshold in line with what was already on the 'rev b' models.
'rev A' Only
Before 10.3.2 Update, Fan would come on at 138 degrees F and shut off
at 125 degrees F
After the 10.3.2 update, Fan would come on at 125 degrees F and shut
off at 116 degrees F.
As I'm sure you know, just operating the 12" PowerBook will bring the
temperature in the 125-130 degree range without much effort, so that
fan continuously stays on now pretty much.

| Reader reports ATTO 3.0 driver broke SCSI ZIP support |
Past reader reports on the ATTO 3.0 driver update for Panther noted increased performance (sometimes dramatically) but this is the first reader that said they were using a SCSI ZIP drive:
"
After installing the ATTO 3.0 driver, my ZIP 100 is no longer accessible. It doesn't show up in ATTO Config, or even in an 'ioreg'. System is 10.3.2 on a Dual 1.25 Ghz MDD.
I duplicated the problem on 10.3.1. 10.3.1 with Panther 2.0.4 ATTO driver - ZIP works. Installed ATTO 3.0 driver. ZIP drive ceases to exist. Reinstalled the Panther 2.0.4 driver - Zip drive works again.
Card is an (OEM) Apple/ATTO UL3D. Flash (firmware) is 1.6.6f0.
Wes
"
I'd write ATTO tech support to see if they have any suggestions.
Previous ATTO 3.0 driver reports were in Dec. 18th and Dec. 19th news pages.

| ADC 17in CRT/ATI 9000 Owner reports 10.3.2 helps with black screen issue |
| This report is also on the 10.3.2 feedback page, but there's so many there it may get missed. I don't own the (discontinued) 17in CRT ADC display, but for those that do this might be of interest:
"Hi Mike, I have a 17in Apple "Clearback" CRT that I still really like. (ADC CRT display, the one discontinued a couple of years ago. -Mike) Unfortunately, the ADC connector means upgrade choices for the graphics card are limited. (the adapters only work with digital flat panels) (The CRT ADC display draws a LOT of 28V power, literally the max possible to source from the Tower Power Supplies and more than the usual DVI-ADC adapters source-Mike)
When the retail Radeon 9000 Pro was released with ADC port, I bought it as soon as I could find one. I've been quite happy with it, but it had an annoying bug where it wouldn't sense the available resolutions right, resulting in a black screen when starting a game for the first time or when playing iTunes' visualizer fullscreen etc. I'd become pretty adapt at manually editing config files so at least games would work, but it was very annoying non the less. I had emailed ATi but never heard back from them. (This issue was commented on in the forums in the past. ATI has a tech doc on the issue also - linked in the FAQ here.-Mike)
I'm very pleased to say that this latest 10.3.2 update finally fixes all problems. The display pref pane only lists one frequency per supported resolution now and I haven't been able to produce a black screen from any of the apps that caused trouble before. Better late than never, I guess :)
regards and kudos for running such an invaluable site,
Kees

(If you post an updated entry - make sure you use the same name, etc. as you did before so I can find your past entry. Thanks.)
(Incomplete entries are deleted. Do not post questions in the database, it's for drive reports not questions on what drive to buy - for that try searching the database for reports from owners of your mac model on the drive type/brand/interface, etc. you're interested in.)
