More OS X 10.1.3 + WaveLan PC Card Driver Success Stories
In a follow-up to an earlier report today on Wavelan (Wireless/Airport) drivers working in OS X 10.1.3:
"
Mike,
My WallStreet 266 updated with 10.1.3 and a SkyLine Wireless PC card runs
like a champ over Airport using the 1.0.0b3 (latest) drivers from the
SourceForge WirelessDriver site. Sleeps/wakes properly too (was an issue
with earlier driver versions). Haven't used encryption at all, the FAQ
indicates it isn't yet available for my SkyLine card.
Later--Loren
"
The earlier report today was updated to note he used the same drivers noted in the FAQ here last fall as working in OS X 10.1.2 - available at http://wirelessdriver.sourceforge.net/.

Reader Comments on PageMaker 7.01 Update Install Problems
"
Mike
Adobe posted a 7.01 update for PageMaker on Version Tracker. I read
through all the comments from their registered users (45 in all). It
appears that only 1 person was able to actually install it (it errored
on the last 3 items).
I tried at my office on two computers with no success (extensions off,
file sharing off, combinations of the two, etc). I tried at home tonight
though and was able to successfully install it without disabling all
Extensions (though FileSharing is off at home as I am on a cable
internet system).
I wondered what the difference was with the few extensions I have turned
off at home vs. the 26 I have disabled at the office. I examined the two
disabled folders and then compared the active Extensions on my office
computer (main) that is the most similar. The difference was only one
file. I can't say for certain until I get back tomorrow the office, but
the one file that was active at work and inactive at home was the
Printer Sharing extension (not the USB one, but the regular one that is
installed by OS 9).
This could be coincidence and not related to disabled extensions at all.
But since each of the two computers has more than 200 extensions
installed, I haven't had the time to compare them and see if something
HAS to be in the computer to allow for proper installation. In any case,
Adobe needs to figure this problem out quickly.
By the way, I installed the OS 10.1.3 update on my WallStreet Powerbook
upgraded with a BlueChip 500 without incidence. It seems a little faster
to respond to opening and closing menus and windows, but I've only had
it for a day and not had a lot of chance to dig around in it for a more
accurate assessment....
Cheers.

G4/450 Owner notes FAXstf X working with internal modem after 10.1.3 Update
"
Mike:
I purchased Fax stf X from Smith Micro about a month ago as I needed a fax
program in OS X. There was a problem with adding the internal modem as a
printer in my Dual G4 450 when setting up Fax stf X. I would consistently
get a "-108" error. Smith Micro said it was an Apple problem, and Apple
couldn't fix the problem with Tech Support.
After upgrading to 10.1.3, I tried adding the mode as a printer. No problems
whatsoever. I can now fax from my G4 running OS X!
This will now help all of those who need to fax, like myself.
