More on Seagate 7200.11 Misreported drive model/cache (Firmware issue)
Follow-up to earlier report in the Jan 30th news page from a new Mac Pro owner w/750GB Seagate 7200.11 firmware SD04 - apparently other firmware versions also affected per this mail today from another new Mac Pro owner:

"Hi Mike, today i recieved 2 Seagate ST3750330AS (750 GB) AEBS03 Drives.
Both report "ST3_INVALID_PFM" as model number.
(His mail included a link to a Seagate user forums post (earlier report here on this issue did too), but when I checked it this morning it was shown as 'deleted'.-Mike)
You are absolutely right. These guys deleted the messages!
But I bookmarked the support pages for info and firmware download.
Barracuda 7200.11 SATA models with firmware SD04 or SD14
Barracuda 7200.11 Reporting Wrong Cache Size
I know a service guy with a PC for flashing the drive with the new firmware. Lets see if he could fix this. I send you a mail if it works.
(he later wrote
Today I met the service guy (with a PC). Updating the firmware to AD14 was an easy task and done within minutes if you know what to do. Now both disks show the correct drive model number in system profiler.
Regards Niko"

I've also added this as a drive database report. This is why I prefer the Hitachi 7K1000s (due to a history of seagate drive/firmware issues in the past.) I've been very happy with the 1TB 7K1000 I bought in early Nov 07 for my G5 tower and would also be my personal choice for a Mac Pro (don't have one yet though).

Reader follow-up/fix for Calendar sync issue with iTunes, iSync, iPod and Palm
"Follow-up on earlier issue with iTunes, iSync, iPod and Palm
I wrote a while back about some issues I was having while trying to sync iCal to my iPod. (After updating to OS X 10.5.1 on a 17" MBP.) The issue I had caused only old Calendars to be seen in the Calendar tab in iTunes. I was unable to sync any new Calendars with both my iPod and my Palm.

Apple suggested that the problem was in the library file somewhere, but after doing a clean install there was no such luck. As a last chance before redoing my whole calendar i exported my calendar files and then deleted the whole calendar folder. I then reimported the export files and all was fixed. I am not sure what file was corrupt, but i would have to assume that it was something in my calendar folder.
Hope this helps someone else, it only took me a few months to figure out the problem.
-Rob"
