iTunes 7.6 - Fix for prompt asking to accept incoming connections
Apple has a kbase doc today titled iTunes 7.6: If you are asked to accept incoming network connections that suggests reinstalling using the iTunes 7.6 download updater. I had updated (on Jan. 15th release date) using the download version (not Software Update) and still saw that message each time - despite having iTunes in Apps Firewall set to allow incoming connections (OS X Leopard). Removing iTunes from the Firewall apps list worked once (and still synced w/AppleTV) but it's added again to the list (still set to allow incoming connections) and the message reappears next time it's used. I just downloaded it again and reapplied it in case they revised something. That seems to have worked - and the download is dated Jan 16th vs Jan 15th date on original download itunes.dmg file. (Minor difference (.1MB) in file size also.) Just a FYI in case you had seen the (repeated) prompt also.

2008 Mac Pro reports page updated
I've updated the 2008 Mac Pro owner feedback page with 4 more reports - two noting they've had no freezes/screen corruption that several other readers have seen (often repeatedly). Included are notes on improved northbridge cooling (heatsink) and drive rail improvements (better dampening of drive noise). A couple more owners reported the reboot on wake from sleep mentioned by 2 readers yesterday so I asked if they tried resetting the SMC - that fixed the problem for a reader yesterday. Also added a follow-up from Oliver on running OS X Tiger on the new Mac Pro using the 2600 XT (issues seen) instead of the X1900 card he used last week.
BTW- the subject of underrated/suspect UPS has come up (again) - if you're using an UPS with your Mac Pro please include info on that in reports. None of the problem reports (until today) had mentioned using an UPS, but this topic has come up in the past (i.e. G5 towers).
Update: One of the 2008 Mac Pro owners that reported reboots on wake from sleep yesterday sent an update today that the problem was back (SMC reset helped originally.) He later wrote he's using an UPS (only 500VA rated) so I asked he test without the UPS. See updated notes, links, etc. on his post from yesterday on the linked page. (I've now made the reminder on including any UPS use/info in red on that page...)

OS X Leopard Scanner Compatibility/Tips page updated (twice today)
I've updated the page of OS X Leopard Scanner Feedback/Tips/Tricks with Tips on setup/using his Epson Perfection 4990. (Page updated to include a before/after sample of a 50 year old damaged photo restored with Epson's Digital Ice...)
Updated again with Tips from a Canon Canoscan 3200F user on plist edits he used to get the software working. (FYI to Canon scanner owners - two other model Canon scanner users have reported the software install order (and then a Toolbox "save") was a fix for their problems w/10.5.1. See Jan 21st CanoScan 9900F user report and link to earlier report/tips from Jan. 9th.)
