The page linked lists "Call for Availability". [When I called at 1:45 PM, there were 4 backorders so far with delivery on stock overdue from Friday.] Price is $79.99 before rebate, plus shipping. The rebate PDF form notes offer good "on purchases from an authorized and participating Fry's Store from March 1,2002 to March 30, 2002. Offer valid only in the US." (See the rebate PDF form linked on the above page for more details.) Note: Before buying make sure you read both the recent review/comparison of the SBlive Mac and the previous article on SBLive Feedback/Performance tests. (There's no OS X drivers and so far no OS 9 driver update since the original driver release which many owners noted some issues with in these articles.)

| Toshiba R1202 16x Combo DVD/CDRW Drive Reports |
There were 4 new reports over the weekend added to the Drive Compatibility Database from owners of the new Toshiba SD-R1202 (16x10x40 + 12 DVD ROM). The drive is too new to have any iTunes support (unless the support file is modified by users). All reported that Apple System Profiler listed "Apple disc burning: Supported" but 3 of the reports (all from dual G4 owners) noted they had burn problems using Discburner (either not burning at all, or stalling, etc.). The 4th owner did not comment if he had actually burned CDs using the Finder but I've written to ask. One of the reports noted burning data CDs with Toast Titanium 5.1.1 fine. (FYI - Toast 5.1.2 is the latest version.) (Just posting this as a FYI to anyone considering this drive that does not search the database first. )

| Sonnet Harmoni iMac CPU Upgrade Firewire Port Updater |
|
One of this weekend's updates to the Rate Your CPU Upgrade database noted he obtained an updater for his Harmoni G3/500 that allowed the Firewire port to be used with his CDRW drive. Here's a clip from his database report:
"I had some difficulty getting the Firewire port to recognize any device. After Tech Support emailed me Harmoni
updater 1.1b1, things are up and running. Maybe Sonnet can update their support site to reflect this?
Currently there is no way to learn this unless you call Tech Support. "
I checked Sonnet's Harmoni page, support page and processor card downloads page today and didn't see the update available there yet - unless it's included in the "Harmoni 1.1 installer" listed there. I suspect it will be added soon (it may be in beta test based on the version number, but I've written Sonnet to ask when it will be posted at their website.)
