Acard releases non-beta IDE card Deep Sleep Drivers for 10.1.5 and 10.2.x
| Yesterday I received an email from Acard noting they had posted a non-beta deep sleep driver for their IDE controller cards for OS X 10.1.5 and 10.2.x:
"
Hi Mike,
This is Scott from ACARD Tech.
We are formally release the deep sleep driver for Mac OS X v10.1.5 & Mac OS
X v10.2 regarding all ACARD RAID cards, adapter cards and SCSI cards.
Since your website is best known and highly respected in the Mac world, we
would great appreciate if you can help post this on your website, therefore
most Mac users will know this news right away!
Please feel free to contact me if you need any help.
Note: The "deepsleep_v1015.sit" is for MacOS X v10.1.5, and
"deepsleep_ver102x.sit" is for Mac OS X v10.2,
Thanks & Best regards,
Scott Chen
ACARD Tech."

"Deep Sleep" Support
- New Drivers support for Mac OS X "Deep Sleep". 10.1.5 (and) 10.2.X (see links above)
- Applicable to ACARD IDE Adapters ( AEC-6880M ; AEC-6280M ; AEC-6860M ; AEC-6260M ) and SCSI Adapters ( AEC-67160M ; AEC-6712WM ; AEC-6712TUM ; AEC-6712TSM )
- For those who use the Beta Version, please upgrade to this formal released drive.
Remember that Sonnet and SIIG (and Miglia I think) also sell rebranded Acard IDE controller cards. (Use Apple System profiler to check the card ID first - the Sonnet ATA-100 and ATA-133 Non-RAID cards are Promise chip based, their ATA/66 and ATA-133 RAID cards are Acard based.)

OS X 10.2/iTunes3 Support file for Sony CRX-810E Notebook Combo Drive
Louis Laregina sent a copy of his modified Sony plugin file for OS X 10.2.2 to support the Sony CRX-810E (16x10x24x + DVD-ROM) Combo drive he installed in a 2001 iBook. (I've added this file to the FAQ's CDROM/CDR section for future reference.) NOTE: As with all modified files - these are provided "as-is" with no warranty or support. This file replaces the existing file of the same name (use Sherlock to find the locations of the original file (long path) - and to avoid permissions issues in OS X you may want to boot into OS 9 to replace the OS X file, or use the terminal as root. Although an option is to get info on the plugin file and temporarily change permissions. Some have noted booting to OS 9 to replace the file worked best however.)

OS 9 iTunes Support file for Yamaha F1 44x24x44x CDRW Drive
Hussein Holland sent a modified Yamaha CDR file he edited to add support for the Yamaha F1 CDRW drive in OS 9.2.2. (He doesn't have the drive to test so any readers that try this file report back if it works ok.) Like all modified files, this replaces the file of the same name already installed on your system. (It replaces the Yamaha CDR file in the System folder/Extensions/Authoring Support folder). This plugin should work in any OS 9 version. OS X 10.2.2 added support for the drive in that OS version, but there's been no updates for OS 9 authoring support from apple since 1.1.9 months ago.)
I've added this info/file link to the FAQ's CDROM/CDR for future reference. (There are dozens of plugins there modified for various unsupported models of drives.)
Like all 'unofficial' mod. files - they are provided as-is with no warranty or guarantee.

OS 9 iTunes Support file for Pioneer DVR-105/A05
Hussein Holland sent a modified Pioneer CDR file he edited to add support for a latest DVR-105/A05 Superdrive drive in OS 9.2.2. (Note - a reader wrote to say that iTunes still showed a DVR-104 drive using this file - I don't have a DVR-105 (aka A05) drive to test with this file.) Like all modified files, this replaces the file of the same name already installed on your system. (It replaces the Pioneer CDR file in the System folder/Extensions/Authoring Support folder).

You can find full owner reports (latest shown first) by searching the database by drive/brand/interface/mac models (the latest reports are shown first in searches).
For guides to installing CD/CDRW/DVD drives or Hard drives in many mac models, see the IDE Articles page. The Firewire articles page also has guides on case kits, installing drives, etc. If you've added a IDE, SCSI, Firewire or USB hard drive, CDRW, tape drive, etc. make sure you add a report to the database. [If you post an updated entry - make sure you use the same name, etc. as you did before so I can find your past entry. Thanks.]
(Entries today will be added the following newsday. Incomplete entries are deleted. Do not post questions in the database, it's for drive reports not questions on what drive to buy - for that try searching the database for reports from owners of your mac model on the drive type/brand/interface, etc. you're interested in.)
