| First feedback on MacBook Pro Software Update 1.2 (w/Tip) |
"
I just applied the update 1.2 (SR MacBook Pro update - see link/info earlier today below) to my MacBook Pro via software update.
Now every time I move the cursor the screen wiggles! It shifts vertically or horizontally in a direction opposite to the travel of the curser. This is a stability improvement? Anybody else see this? Did I do something wrong or do I need to adjust something? Happens with the mouse or the trackpad, and on both the lcd and the external monitor with and without mirroring. This should make the lasso in PS fun!
I also notice that moving the curser over text cause that text to become distorted while the curser is above it. What's up with that?
(I asked if he tried a shutdown/reboot, if he had any 3rd party display, trackpad, keyboard or other controller addons/haxies, etc.)
tried reboot, I do have a logitec Nuloq mouse on it and am on the phone with apple now.... OK, Problem appears solved. Ivy (the techie) was very helpful. We found that apparently the update turned on the Zoom feature in Universal Access. Turning it off seems to have solved the problem.
So if this happens to anybody else I guess they should check universal access in system preferences and see if zoom is turned on. Hope this helps others. -Barry H."
If you apply this update and see any specific pros/cons, let me know the details

| First feedback on iMac Software Update 1.2 for Tiger |
| First report on the Tiger version of the iMac software update 1.2 (see earlier news items below for info/links on both the Tiger and Leopard updates)
"
Mike, The iMac software update 1.2 Tiger seems to have fixed one small annoying problem with my AL iMac. I did not have the same issues other readers have seen, but I did see problems when my kids quit from Lego Star Wars II. Prior to the update, the computer would be left pretty much unresponsive
and could not get back to the desktop when quitting Lego Star Wars. II. Once I applied the update the problem went away.
(he also included a plug for his ebay auction...)
I thought also as an FYI if any of your readers needs an almost new AGP Nvidia 6800 GeForce Ultra DDL,
Nicely priced here. (FYI - Ebay auction)
I seem to remember that the radeon X800 gave you the same or better performance but this card gives you the ability to run two 30 inch monitors simultaneously. (I mentioned that in both of those reviews, although few users are fortunate enough to own two 30in Cinema Displays.-Mike)
Regards, Fran"
He's referring to the full reviews (see Video topics page, Graphics card section) I did a few years ago when I first got my Nvidia 6800 Ultra card and then ATI X800 Card. (I'm still running the X800 in my 2003 G5 Tower - the 6800 Ultra is back in the original box - make me an offer :-)

| Miglia working on fix for Alchemy DVR problems with Leopard |
| From a reader mail today (don't own one of these personally, I'm using an EyeTV Hybrid TV tuner/EyeTV 2.5.x OK in Leopard on my G5 tower)
"
Subject: Alchemy DVR fix being developed for 10.5
Hi Mike, See below for the response I got from Miglia tech support. I'm glad they are working on a fix as the current version Alchemy DVR 2.5.1
crashes the machine under 10.5.
