"About MacBook Air and MacBook Pro Update 2.0 (127.07 MB)
This update includes graphics performance and reliability enhancements and improves compatibility with some USB devices.
This update is recommended for all Mac notebooks introduced in June 2012."
System requirements on the D/L page was originally listed as OS X 10.7.4 but later corrected to OS X 10.8.2 (as of Friday AM). After installing the OS X 10.8.2 build will be reported as 12C3006.
Feedback on this Update from MacBook Pro users: (Added Nov. 10th)
I don't have a 2012 Macbook Pro or Air to try the update but saw a thread in Apple's MacBook Pro forums from owners that have applied it (or tried to) - Re: MacBook Air and MacBook Pro Update 2.0. Results varied (as usual) - some noted no apparent change in performance, some (not all) said their HD4000 (shared) VRAM reported size changed (?) and one report of Fusion VM broken. (On Friday/Nov. 9th, MU listed an Fusion 5.0.2 update that notes some bug fixes, but not sure that was applied or would help.)
One user also noted significantly lower benchmarks with his USB 3.0 hard drive after the update. Anyone else notice any reduced USB 3.0 performance after this update? (or could it just be related to spotlight reindexing or something else not common or related.)
(FYI/Problems reported with MBP/MBA 2.0 Update: The Nov. 12th news has tips/notes on Problems reported after 2012 MacBook Pro/MacBook Air Update 2.0 including some noting Keychain problems (keychain access prompts, authentication problems in safari or mail) after applying the update.)
Update (Nov. 20th): Apple posted OS X 10.8.2 Supplemental Update 2.0 that says it includes Keychain fixes so hopefully it solves the problems seen by those that installed the MBP/MBA 2.0 update. (Early feedback from those with previous update problems was postive.)
