| Perfboard 1.2 (renamed Dashboard OS X Performance Monitor) |
"
To avoid potential confusion with a prior similarly named application,
Dashboard is now named Perfboard. Please update any references you may have
to Dashboard to Perfboard. We apologize for any inconvenience.
We are also announcing the release 1.2 of Perfboard. In addition to the name
change, Perfboard now uses auto-scaling for the network input/output
displays. The metrics are displayed in bytes/second if less than 1024 and
kbytes/second if 1024 or greater.
Perfboard is free and available from http://www.pepsan.com/perfboard/.
As a reminder, Perfboard provides an extensive readout of system performance
data for Mac OS X. Areas monitored include CPU load metrics, memory
statistics, network bandwidth, and disk I/O operations. Feel your system has
bogged down? Run Perfboard and check at a glance for problems such as
excessive virtual memory paging, high network activity, lack of free memory,
runaway processes and more.
Best regards,
Ronald Guest

| Dual G4/800 Owner Comments on USB Audio Problem in OS X 10.1: |
|
I don't know if this is typical (I'm not lucky enough to have a Dual G4/800 :-) but an owner wrote with problems he's seen with his USB speakers. (Note - I mistakenly listed OS 9.2 in this original post, but his problems were in OS 10.1. I've posted a page with USB audio feedback with other reader reports on USB audio problems.)
"
I was listening to a song in itunes while in Netscape 6.2 (it's really
good by the way)
and suddenly my keyboard stopped working and the music stopped.
I unplugged the keyboard from the back of the screen to the back of the
g4. it worked.
But no way of making working back the speakers and i noticed that iTunes
wasn't continuing playing, i mean it wasn't paused but the songs still
was at 3:52. trying to pause
unpause didn't change anything.
I tried to move the speakers again then i had this kernel panic
related to the module USB.IO_audio if i'm right (somthing like that
anyway).
I hope Apple will do something quick.
Because i can't listen to music for very long with my harman kardon
speakers.
(istick and iSub)
Gregory"
If anyone else has seen this problem or has a tip for Gregory, let me know.
