OS X Beta 4 Version of Return To Castle Wolfenstein MP Test:
ID has posted a new Beta4 version of the OS X executables for Return to Castle Wolfenstein at ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/wolf/osx/. I hope this solves the errors I had getting it to run on OS X 10.0.4 (4Q12) with a GeForce3. (Note - It doesn't help - a Radeon works fine with the game and build 4Q12, but not the Geforce3. Others with GF3s and 4Q12 noted similar problems.)

Mac SoundBlaster Live Cards for Under $80:
[Update - a reader sent a note that Pricemac.com lists several vendors with the Mac SBlive card in one case for less than $80 ($78.86 was the cheapest - but with $14.00+ for shipping noted it may not be the best net price.) Check the shipping costs for a total price. There were some dealers there prices from $80-$83. One noted $4.95 shipping. Prices noted here were valid the day this was posted but will vary over time.]
A reader sent a note he's found a source of Mac SBlive cards for $80 (they now list for $99.99)"

" I found the Creative Labs SoundBlaster for Mac for $80.00 with 6 bucks shipping. Just passing the news along.
(see this emscomputing page
Thanks for the great site.
Agasthya "

Not sure how long that price is good for, but it's the best price I've seen on the Mac SBlive so far. (They note the do not ship internationally however.)

Send Creative Labs Your Comments on Mac SoundBlaster Live:
("CreativeOne" posted this in the forums a few days ago)
" I don't want you to feel like your SB LIVE Mac was a bad decision. Realize that DevRel is concerned that the project will get killed if he isn't prodding them everyday like he has been. We both feel very strongly about the Macintosh platform, and want Creative's products to not only come to the platform, but should also be ported as a quality product. I think we are all to the point that the OS 9 update is long overdue. I guess it could be some what understandable in this time of cutbacks and tight budgets. The concern here is that the budget gets squeezed so tight, and Apple isn't doing enough to get the OS X info to us or help; that someone looking to squeeze the budget a little further will kill ALL Mac development. Especially without DevRel there everyday to lead the charge. I own a SB LIVE Mac too. I am seriously considering moving to OS X full time. We all know SB LIVE Mac is useless in OS X right now. Let's do something about this.

Please send your letters to me expressing your feelings about the Macintosh, Apple, and Creative. Be direct and to the point, but keep it clean and constructive since I want your letters to go into the corporate report. I'll turn them in each week with the rest of my feedback.
Address the letter to Creative management. Send the mail to: creativemail@mac.com

You can also give a shot to Apple here:
http://www.apple.com/macosx/feedback/

I want to see more of our products come to Mac, and SB LIVE Mac drivers sooner than later.
B
Thank you to the people that have already written.
(he later wrote) make sure you tell them the new $99 price tag is more appealing, but you can't find them anywhere!"

We all know the Mac OS 9 driver update is overdue and that there are no current OS X drivers (which would be a huge plus for owners of the card as well as prospective buyers (and for Apple in my opinion). Hopefully both these issues can be solved.
