Another iPod Nano/USB 2.0 PCI card report (ASUS PCI-USB2)
"I have a dual G4 533 Digital Audio powermac. I installed an "ASUS PCI-USB2 Rev 1.03" PCI card in the machine to get faster transfers to my iPod Nano and Canon sd500 digital camera. The card has an NEC chip with id numbers "D720100AS1 / 0201KU267". As expected, the card works at USB 2.0 speeds without installing a driver on OS X 10.4.2.
When nothing is connected to the card, the mac has no trouble going into deep sleep. if I leave the iPod connected and mounted and put the mac to sleep, the monitor goes off but not the power supply fan. The mac can then no longer wake up and I have to push the reset button to get it to respond again. The machine has no other pci cards installed. let me know if you want a photo of the card.

CDRW/CD/DVD/Hard Drive/Storage Compatibility Database Update Listing
The Drive Compatibility Database had 5 new reports added. (Entries today are added the next newsday morning.) The database includes reports on CDRWs, Combo DVD-CDRW, DVD-ROM, DVD Burners, Hard Drives and Removables (tape drive, ORB, ZIP, MO drives, NAS, CF/Smartmedia readers, etc.) in all interface types (IDE, IDE RAID cards, SATA, Firewire, SCSI, USB, adapters). Current total - 15,089 reports. (searching by drive type/brand, mac model etc. listed below will show the full reports, most recent first - does not include updates to previous reports) iApps burn support mentioned in reports unless otherwise noted.

    Tape Drives:
  • Firewire to SCSI adapted HP (Dell branded) PowerVault 110T Ultrium LTO-1 (100/200GB) used w/G4 Cube (OS X 10.4)

    CDRW Drives:
  • USB Iomega CDRW23042EXT3-B used w/G4 AGP (OS X 10.3)

    DVD-R + DVD RAM Drives:
  • Firewire (cased) Matshita SW-9585 used w/G4 AGP (OS X 10.4)
    (noted using Patchburn 4)

You can find full owner reports (latest shown first) by searching the database by drive/brand/interface/mac models (the latest reports are shown first in searches). For guides to installing CD/CDRW/DVD drives or Hard drives in many mac models, see the IDE Articles page. The Firewire articles page also has guides on case kits, installing drives, etc.
If you've added a IDE, SCSI, Firewire or USB hard drive, CDRW, tape drive, etc. make sure you add a report to the database. (If you post an updated entry - make sure you use the same name, etc. as you did before so I can find your past entry. Thanks.)
(Incomplete entries are deleted. Do not post questions in the database, it's for drive reports not questions on what drive to buy - for that try searching the database for reports from owners of your mac model on the drive type/brand/interface, etc. you're interested in.)
