9600 Mac/PC Edition infant failure
I've not gotten much feedback on this card (the Mac/PC ATI Radeon 9600 Pro model) but a reader sent a note that he had one fail quickly. (Just bad luck I assume as a certain percentage of anything has infant failures.)

I don't recommend this card for anyone at this time. Mine died after only 3 days. (I asked for more details on what happened exactly.-Mike)
it was strange to say the least. I had one kernel panic in 10.4.2. (Quicksilver tower.) When I restarted my system, my monitor reported no video signal and would finally switch to standby, then switch off.
My Belkin PCI Wireless-G card did not show any activity, not even just that it was turned on by the system. Replacing the card with my Geforce4 Ti, allowed for proper system use, so did my even older ATI 9000 Pro. A clean reinstall of 10.4, failed to resolve the issue with the 9600.
Joel S."

I don't have one of these cards but welcome other reader feedback on it.

ROKR owner report on USB connectivity problem (updated w/fix)
"ROKR problem...
iTunes 5.0 and 10.3.9 OS X. When I insert the USB it says unknown device connected to USB, Initialize, Ignore or Cancel.
The iTunes Phone patch is installed, I checked the pkg receipt present.
Tell other users, as per Apple, you cannot Initialize the device. Cannot solve the problem yet. Anybody else??
(I don't own one of these to test but asked if the phone was connected directly to the Mac (and not to the keyboard USB port for instance) and if any info in the Apple Motorola ROKR E1 phone: Connectivity troubleshooting tips doc helped.-Mike)
Yeah! One of the guys replied and mentioned about formatting the Flash. That did the trick. (FYI - the apple ROKR troubleshooting/tips doc says "Do not use Disk Utility or iPod Updater with the Motorola ROKR E1.Music is stored on a memory card that's formatted as FAT-16 - not HFS.".-Mike)
Also, if you run into cannot read iTunes folder in ROKR, then open in Disk mode and delete the folder.
Once it works, its awesome.... I wish I can do more than 100 songs.
--Amit "

Matthew mentioned in one of his earlier ROKR reports here that you can buy additional 512MB memory chips for $69.xx (but only one can be installed at a time and since the phone is USB 1.1, it takes awhile to copy the 100 songs.)
Matthew saw this and asked me to post the phone number for ROKR specific support - 1-866-730-5407. (Many people are calling Apple he said when they should be calling ROKR support.) He also sent a reminder to check the user manual:

" The manual for the ROKR has Storage addressed starting on page 26 to page 29 in the ROKR User Guide under the category Memory Card. These (modes) must also be switched to use iSync to put iCal and Address Book contents on ROKR....

More iPod/USB 2.0 PCI card reports
"Hello Mike, I have been following your front page on USB 2.0 PCI cards working with an iPod Nano. I really like the Nano, but I like my PowerMac even more and need for it to sync before I purchase one.
I have a 1.25GHz (MDD) Dual G4 PowerMac and no Nano but a Mini iPod that only came with a USB 2.0 Cable. I do however have a leftover firewire cable that works with it and that is what I have been using. I also have a card reader for my digital camera and USB 1.1 is so slow that It's time to go USB 2.0.
I purchased an "ALi" card on eBay for around $10.00 including shipping. The seller claimed that it would work with a Mac and it had drivers. After receiving it I installed it, the PowerMac would "kernel panic" upon trying to startup each and every time. Removing the card and installing the drivers for the PCI card and reinstalling the card allowed the Mac to start up normal.
The card did work as advertised with the card reader but would not sync the ipod mini from any of it's ports. The iPod did sync on a regular USB 1.1 port.
Also a no go with sleep even if all was unplugged from it. So the "ALi card goes to my "electronics mistakes graveyard".
I found another one on eBay with a "NEC" chipset for around $11.00 including shipping. I will report back to you the status of that after I receive it and install it. I see on your site that that may work without any drivers. (10.2.8 and later have native support for a NEC USB 2.0 chipset, although I don't know if there are more than one version of the chipset.-Mike)
Oh yes and by the way, "NAP" feature still working great with Tiger! Temps nice and cool all the time!
