Anyone else get a mini-PCIe SATA card working in a Mac Mini?
A reader from germany reported in the Aug 24th news page he'd gotten a SIL3132 based Mini-PCIe card working in his 1.83GHz Core2duo Mini for eSATA (w/case mod for ext. cables). However I recd an email from someone else that bought the same card saying they could not get the card recognized. Not sure what model mini they tried but wondered if any other readers have tried this card/mod. If you have send a note. Thanks. (FYI: 2 other Mini owners (both 2007, macmini 2,1 models) wrote they'd also done this mod successfully - one running OS X 10.5.8, the other OS X 10.6.4. Original Apple TVs not getting updated (for Netflix, iOS, etc)
Since I'm a day late here I'm sure you've already read this on the web but apparently original appletv owners won't be getting an update to add features of the new apple tv... And Apple updated doc on iTunes Store Movie and TV rental usage rights in the US Notes: "TV Rentals are not compatible with Apple TV (1st generation)". Personally I doubt I'd be renting any TV shows from itunes anyway but I'm sure owners of original AppleTVs hoped for an update. I know Mike upgraded his AppleTV hard drive and was thinking of other mods (hacks for ext HDs, more codec support, etc).
(I'm getting away from itunes content personally, badly bitten with the HT/audio bug. Just bought a 400-disc sony Blu-Ray DVD Changer (under $500) and will be handing down my single-disc Sony 1000ES player to Mike next time I'm over there as I know he liked it.)
