Reader Review: Phase 5 G3 CPU Upgrade
I'd like to share my experiences with a G3 Card produced by the German
Company phase5 (they also do the G-Rex video card you never got a driver
update).
Maybe this card is not available outside Germany, but I think many Germans
like this site like I do and will read it.
3 days ago I bought a Maccelerate 750/275 with 1MB BS Cache 1:2, I never saw
a powerlogix or Newer card but this one might be not a clone of either one.
There is one switch for tuning with 6 positions:
4-6 only works if you break a seal - which voids warranty. (Didn't try it) The only thing else you get is a disk with a control panel, where you can switch the BS Cache clocking and some kind of compatibility mode with either 601, 603(e), 604(e). I guess this is usefull for programs that check the processor but are not G3 aware - the manual say's nothing about it. Until now I'm perfectly happy with this card, no compatibility issues. Running it at 50MHz Bus, 275 MHz CPU, BS Cache 3:2, MacBench scores (CPU 958, FPU 674) with 1:2 settings (920/674). Price was 1650 DM (incl 16% sales tax), means around 790$ (without tax). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
