Performance: The Newer card provided a significant improvement in performance and stable operation in our 8500. The card ships with two nice utilities (Speed Doubler2 and Ram Doubler2) and offers a small range of speed adjustments. Based on extensive testing, if you value a "install it and forget it" rock solid card - this is a fine card. We never worried if the card would complete a test or fail to boot. Performance is not as good as the recent designs such as the PowerLogix Pro due to the limited speed adjustments, but is still respectable. In rare systems where the 56.25mhz bus speed will work, performance is very good we hear. Stability: We've already answered this on almost every page of the Newer review. Stability under different hardware and software platforms is the hallmark of this card. Nuff' said. Quality: The quality and design of the Newer card is excellent. No evidence of last minute patches, wires or circuit modifications was evident. Soldering and overall workmanship was very good. The performance and stability this card demonstrated is positive proof of its overall quality and attention to detail. A solid, well executed design. (Note: Before you install your new card, examine the edge of the CPU card connector very closely - if there is not a bevel on both sides of the card - DO NOT INSERT IT IN YOUR MAC!. Return the card to your vendor or call Newer for a prompt replacement. This is a rare problem but one that has occurred to several people - including us (two cards we saw had this defect). Inserting a card without the bevel will bend the cpu connector pins on the motherboard, requiring a replacement. (This problem goes back a few months, but better safe than sorry) Documentation: The supplied manual provided clear and complete instructions for installation, adjustment and trouble shooting for all applicable Apple & most Clone models. Photographs were used in many places to provide a clear understanding of the locations of components and switches on both the card and the target computer. Overall documentation was judged to be excellent. Support: Newer's 2 year warranty is as good as most in the industry. In our dealings with Newer customer and tech support was outstanding. We were never put on hold for more than a few minutes, and support personnel were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Newer's commitment to customer support was proven on day one. They say the customer is family, and they mean it. Overall support was rated excellent. Value: Street prices vary quite a bit, as does the service you receive after the sale. For the best prices, and good service to boot, always check Highly Recommended.
