Warranty:
The Newer Technologies MaxPowr card comes with a standard two year warranty. Although they don't advertise it, they also will honor the warranty on cards that have been overclocked. Newer's stand however, is that in many/most systems this is more headache than its worth to the business user. Reliability is king in the real world, and this card delivers it in spades.

Tech Support:
With my "one in a thousand" luck, I got a chance to test this aspect of Newer immediately, and they passed with flying colors. Newer told me they consider their customers as "family", and I can attest to that fact ( actually, they treated me better than most of my relatives do ). I was never on hold for more than a minute or two, and overall I'd rate their support as excellent. Their tech support number is toll free also.

Documentation:
The Newer Tech. manual provided clear, concise instructions and illustrations for installation in Apple PowerMac 7500/7600, 8500, 9500, Power Computing and UMAX machines. Step-by-step instructions and pictures walk you completely through the process on each of these machines. Tables of available switch settings for each of the four bus speed/CPU speed settings are included. The manual also contains a troubleshooting section and Newer's toll free tech support number in case you need assistance.

Quality/Construction:
The Newer card shows excellent quality of construction. There were no visible trace cuts or jumper wires on the card ( I've seen these before on first run products - so I always check for them). The card was sized to properly extend into the stock PM8500 CPU card guides, a nice touch. The location of the speed adjustment switch is ideal - speed changes can be made without removing the card!

Packaging:
The unit arrived in a well designed, heavily padded and attractive box. As mentioned previously, Newer provides a static wrist strap, manual, and registration card. Newer also includes a bundled Speed Doubler 2/Ram Doubler 2 software package ( a $99 value ) and a disk containing various utilities for verifying CPU/Bus speeds, ram testing, cache size and a patch should you encounter problems reading/writing to the floppy drive at the higher bus speeds. In our testing this patch was not required and was never installed. A nice touch though, and another example of the extent Newer has gone to ensure reliable operation with their products.

OnLine Support:
The Newer web site ( www.newertech.com ) contains company and product information, their toll free number, and various software utilities such as their excellent "Guage" series. It appears a well maintained site with lots of useful information for memory, cpu and cache upgrade shoppers.
