Since my main page news posts change every day and going back through the archive pages is a pain until I get a search engine posted, I decided to post a permanent page to record reader submitted tips and tricks for Real PC (and VPC 2.0 soon). The author of the tip will be credited on the post. Setup tips for specific games are welcome as well. I also list bug reports and gripes, in hopes that Insignia will address them. Have a tip for better performance with a game or application? Send it in! Got a specific complaint (not general ones like "it's too slow") or bug to report? Send it it in! | Disable MMX: | Turn off MMX emulation unless it's needed. It's there for compatibility not speed. [Mike- MMX adds speed on the PC, but there must be a lot of overhead in the RealPC emulation. Luckily few programs require it and RealPC is probably too slow for MMX games like POD anyway.] {Thanks to Kobie Horne} |
| FPU Setting: | Switch to Insignia 586 emulation for the Floating point unit. (Works faster for me -Kobie Horne) |
| Sound Settings: | For better sound emulation use Insignia Native as the sound driver.(The problem is that it is incompatible with some games.) {Thanks to Kobie Horne} |
