Thread on Pegasus Thunderbolt RAID Problems (RF Interference?)
(Not sure how common this is, but posting as a FYI to others.)
Here's a reader's mail this weekend. (EU Emphasis mine)
"Subject: Promise Pegasus R4/R6 Thunderbolt RAIDs are susceptible to RF interference
This will serve as a warning to all users mainly in the EU area currently considering a Promise Pegasus R4/R6 Thunderbolt RAID.

The Promise Pegasus R4/R6 Thunderbolt RAIDs are susceptible to RF interference mainly caused by GSM900 phones - they will simply disconnect the Thunderbolt link when in proximity of a GSM900 phone when a call is in progress.

Promise as well as Apple have had this information since mid October this year. As of today, the official statement from Apple is that they do not have an official statement regarding this.
Promise is now unofficially acknowledging this as a known error - for further information regarding this contact:
Promise EU +31402352600 or Promise US +14082281400

(Thread titled) Thunderbolt Pegasus R4 Experience?
Best regards,
Ulf Soderlund"

That thread was originaly started in mid-July. As of Sunday night (12/18) is 10 pages. (If RFI is really the cause, normally I'd suspect a cable vs device in a metal chassis. But you'd think both would have adequate shielding.)

Reader Feedback on Pegasus R6 (Thunderbolt):
FYI - here's a reader's notes on his experience, sent 2 days after the above was posted here.

" Just wanted to share my own experience with my pegasus R6. No RF interference in any way for me. I have a ATT microcell on one side of the Raid and an Airport Extreme on the other. I use my cell phone on a regular basis right next to the box - no problems. When doing research about the raid (before i bought) I read about someone having RF interference problems with the actual thunderbolt cable so i paid close attention when i got mine.

The Pegasus is by far the fastest, most painless and best storage solution I have ever owned (in 20 years with macs). It is actually a steal at the price. I really can't wait to see what else will come out for thunderbolt. I am hoping for video solutions and camera (tethered) solutions.
-Paul"
