Oops! My iPhone just hit the stage and cracked the glass! So, just like Dorothy, it is headed to Kansas!
Sunday night in San Francisco during a music performance my iPhone 3G fell and hit the wood stage platform, and you know the rest. A cracked screen, but still working like a champ.
BEFORE: (Excuse the poor pix, the best I could do with the original 320x221 image of the entire phone w/replacement screen beside it. Crack starts and ends at the white dots.-Mike)
So now what? I'm really out there on my own, as Apple has no plan for this eventuality. After a couple of days researching everyone recommended on various sites, I homed in on Mission:Repair.
Upon calling, I spoke to Troy, who helped me select the repair option most suited for me, which was to pack it in my own box, print an emailed FedEx label and drop it off at FedEx or numerous other locations. They also offer to send packing and have it picked up. There is an easy option for anyone to use, and their site offers an excellent walk thru to get Work Orders, removing SIMs, etc. Actually, the website has a lot of useful Do It Yourself manuals, kits and information on all Apple mobile and handheld devices, including the new iPad.
The repair turnaround time from the San Francisco Bay area to Olathe, Kansas was less than 2 full business days, shipping and insurance included. They did a complete diagnostic check up also as a part of the service so I am sure there is no remaining issue as to performance.
I am very happy with their on time performance and careful workmanship and handling of my iPhone and definitely recommend Mission Repair for your repair needs.
My Invoice breakout:

AFTER:
They did a very good job, fast, and the phone is as good as new. Who said we don't need to go to Kansas anymore? Troy can be reached at 866-638-8402 if necessary. A very nice guy. (For anyone in Olathe Kansas, you can also bring your device to their store to have it repaired.)
