Apple Posts Printer/Scanner Driver Updates (Brother, Canon, Epson, Lexmark)
(Apple's Epson Printer/scanner driver page below has a large (1.4GB) D/L that covers many models. Software Update or the MFR's website may have a smaller, model specific D/L. (The MFR site may also have a later version.) Apple's doc of supported models by brand name has indicators to show which models have been recently updated or added. Normally if I'm not having having printer (or scanner) problems, I don't update. However a reader replied that sometimes a printer driver update may fix a security issue. Apple doesn't typically include info about fixes on their printer driver pages, so you'd need to check the printer mfr's driver update info. And again, they may have a later version than what Apple has posted. Also sometimes mfrs release printer firmware updates to fix flaws. I remember HP issued a LaserJet firmware security update in Dec. 2011 (ref: HP press release) and in fall 2016 a firmware update for select OfficeJet models regarding ink cartridge authentication.)
Epson Printer Drivers v3.3 for OS X (page says Lion to Yosemite, but later OS's supported)
(An Epson WF-3520 user said this update fixed his "Filter Failed" error in Sierra 10.12.5.
BUT a later post from a 10.12.5 WF-7610 user said they saw 'Filter failed' error on EPSON custom page print after v3.3 Driver Update. (Does below tip from the past help?) FYI: The "Filter Failure" error (and/or "rastertoescpll quit unexpectedly") has been seen before - this post from 2013 has a previous tip/fix (making sure
computer name is not blank in Sharing Prefs), but not sure if it applies to more recent Epson user Filter Failed problems.)
v03.60.09 Update for 2017 LG OLED TV B7P, C7P, E7P, G7P, W7P models.
(LG US D/L dated July 3rd, but owners said was released via TV's network update in June.)
Change info from page's "Reference" link (which has other (LCD) models listed also).
Improvements in HDR (HDR10/HLG)
Bugs fix in Dolby Vision
Improvements in shortcut key for apps on remote control
Improvements in Dolby Vision
This reportedly does not fix floating blacks in Dolby Vision Power Rangers and Fate of the Furious UHD Discs.
(Only an issue with DV, not HDR10. Unknown if due to the disc DV encode, Oppo 203/205 player/firmware or the TV.)
